Abstrakt. In the article the phenomenon of the «Greek marvel» is consi¬dered on the example of a series of ancient coins. The thesis about ethnographic sensitivity is demonstrated as the main cha¬racteristic of ancient Greek culture in all its spheres such as: art, science, and politics. In particular, the foundation of Greek politics regarding to countries that were occupied during the campaigns of Alexander the Great (Alexander Macedonian) was the assimilation of the cultural features of the conquered people, which minimized antagonism between the local population and alien rulers. There is a supposition that Greeks openness to other cultures of other nations forms the basis of the «Greek marvel».

Keywords: «Greek marvel», ancient culture, coin, art, politics.
