Abstract. The article is devoted to the reception of the Ukrainian avant-garde in contemporary art and design. The reception of the Ukrainian avant-garde is marked by the processes of perception, rethinking, and interpretation of artistic phenomena that occurred in the 1910s—1930s and which include such directions of fine art as cubism, futurism, suprematism, and constructivism.

The purpose of the study is to analyze how the Ukrainian avant-garde of the early 20th century is being reinterpreted in contemporary art and design. It examines the origins and leading figures of the Ukrainian avant-garde, its national characteristics, and its influence on the development of the European and global avant-garde movements. The study analyzes how the ideas of Suprematism and Constructivism are reinterpreted in contemporary artistic practices — painting, installations, media art — and integrated into graphic and fashion design. Special attention is given to the themes of identity, decolonization, and the formation of Ukraine’s cultural uniqueness through artistic practices. The international dimension of the Ukrainian avant-garde and the academic debate regarding its autonomy from the «Russian avant-garde» are also discussed. The conclusions emphasize the significance of the avant-garde for contemporary art, design, and cultural identity, and outline prospects for further research in this field. The problem under study has cultural and art history relevance for the formation of Ukraine’s self-identification.

The subject of research is the art and design of the Ukrainian avant-garde.

The object of research is the reception of the Ukrainian avant-garde in contemporary artistic practices and design.

The methodology is based on interdisciplinary analysis, art history analysis, synthesis of scientific approaches in the fields of painting, graphics, and media art, and the use of comparative art history methods.

Keywords: reception, Ukrainian avant-garde, contemporary art, design, Suprematism, Constructivism, cultural identity, decolonization.
