Abstract. The given article analyzes artistic specificity and functions of major types of zoomorphic earthenware of the XIXth — early XXIst cc., lighting devices, crockery, interior elements, musical instruments, and toys from various ceramic centres of Ukraine. Some items reveal zoomorphic features only in particular details (for example, a plug, a lid, etc), whereas the others fully represent them in their shape (a bird or an animal) which was often ornamented with painted or relief dйcor. Some authors were really meticulous in developing every detail (feathers or fur), while the others produced rather schematic zoomorphic items.
Keywords: ceramics, zoomorphic earthenware, typology, artistic peculiarities, shape, dйcor, functions.
