Abstract. The purpose of the article is to show the immanence of tradition — to be present, to accompany the existence of human society in its historical continuity.
Traditionalism is a complete system of behavioral norms, worldview principles, cultural skills, spiritual canons, social-structural forms, economic and industrial culture developed by the ethnic formation and learned from previous generations, which were inherited both through a conditioned reflex at the genetic level and by transmission due to direct contact.
One of the factors in the transmission of cultural values is the need for traditional cultural values of older generations, which ensures their durability. It is emphasized that the main social unit of the bearer, protector and creator of traditions is the family. It is through the family that power lines not only preserve and transmit, but also create traditions.
For Ukraine, the ethnographic colorfulness of traditions, which are formed on the basis of ethnic cultural material, is noticeable, therefore, the ethnographic traditional features of the Lemkos, Boykos, Hutsuls, Polishchuks, Podolians and other ethnographic groups are singled out. Traditions require ethnostable conditions of existence and communication — inherent in the rural environment; the city is too dynamic and lacks a traditional foundation.
The intelligence methodology is based on general scientific methodological principles and basic requirements that apply to works of historical and ethnological direction.
Keywords: tradition, endurance, family, cultural values, eth-nographic groups.
