Abstract. Restoration of works of art requires not only many years of experience and knowledge, but also a creative approach, attention to the smallest details.
The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the implementation of a set of conservative measures and restoration work on one painting monument of the first half of the 20th century — the large-format work «The Holy Eucharist» of the community of the Archangel Michael Church, the village of Pidhirtsi, Brody district, Lviv region — in order to preserve its authentic state.
The painting «The Most Holy Eucharist» has not only artistic but also historical significance, since the lower third of the work contains a contour-planar image of the «Upper» wooden church with a bell tower, named in honor of the Archangel Michael, which was built in 1720 and which currently does not exist — it burned down in 2006.
The object of the study is a set of measures for the restoration and physical preservation of monuments without changing their artistic and historical appearance, and the subject of the study is the large-format painting «The Holy Eucharist», dated 1935.
The topic is relevant, since in the proposed comprehensive coverage it has not yet been the subject of detailed scientific consideration.
The geographical boundaries of the study are the village of Pidhirtsi, Brody district, Lviv region, and the chronological boundaries of the study are the first half of the 20th century.
