Abstract. Introduction. The article examines the importance of outdoor practice and master classes in the educational process of watercolor painting, with an emphasis on their role in the development of technical and creative skills of students. Special attention is paid to the role of open-air practice and master classes in modern art education. Plein air is considered an important stage of the educational process, which ensures the development of visual perception, mastering the principles of linear and aerial perspective. Master classes provide an opportunity for student to communicate with a teacher who demonstrates technical techniques, methods of working with materials and his own artistic style, which contributes to the acquisition of professional skills.
The article emphasizes the importance of plein air and master classes in harmoniously combined theory and practice, as well as their role in improving the quality of the educational process and shaping the creative outlook of students.
The purpose of the study is a generalized analysis of the influence of these methods on the formation of professional competences of future artists.
Methods. The research methodology consists in the use of such methods as observation, analysis of pedagogical experience and a comparative approach to the study of painting teaching practice.
Conclusions. Both methods, master classes and plein air, contribute to the development of the student’s own style, as they give him freedom for creativity, but at the same time provide tools for technical improvement. In the master classes, the emphasis is on learning specific techniques that can become the basis for experiments. On plein air, the student finds himself in an open space, where he has to apply these techniques independently, adapting them to real conditions. As a result, an individual approach to solving artistic tasks is formed.
Therefore, master classes and plein air practice are complementary tools in teaching watercolor painting. They create unique conditions for practical training, provide a rich experience of interaction with materials, the environment and people, and also contribute to the formation of several technical skills and creative individuality of students.
