Lviv: Apriori Publishing House, 2025, 216 p.: ill. This fundamental work, according to R. Yatsiv, is a tribute to the memory of a great Ukrainian woman, a unique pedagogical talent and a heroic deed. She belongs to the cohort of illustrious representatives of the Ukrainian intellectual elite.
The study object is an analysis of the ascetic life path and the multifaceted scientific and artistic heritage of one of the most authoritative researchers of Ukrainian folk art, in particular, artistic weaving. The scientific editor of the book is Roman Yatsiv. The work is divided into two sections. The first contains a scientific analytical study by Roman Yatsiv, the memoirs of family members — Lesia Krypiakevych, Nadiia Mudra, Bohdana Krypiakevych, and information from Savyna Sydorowych herself (recorded from her words by Petro Krypiakevych). The second part includes three most important fragments of the monograph «Artistic Fabric of the Western Regions of the Ukrainian SSR», published in 1979.
The study subject is the features of Savyna Sydorovych’s professional formation and various spheres of her socio-cultural life during the period of the Ukrainian national liberation struggle, the development of professional artistic education and science in the spirit of ethnic cultural tradition.
The research source base is the published materials presented in two sections of the monograph «Savyna Sydorovych (1895—1972). Aristocratic Intertwinings».
The research methodological basis is the principle of systematicity, scientific objectivity, and art historical analysis.
The article purpose is to analyze the process of personality formation and research interests, to identify the most important intellectual directions of the scientist’s creative work in various guises: professional-practical, pedagogical, scientific-research and socio-cultural.
The conclusions note that the authors of the monograph have detailed Savyna Sydorovych’s significant contribution to Ukrainian ethnopedagogy, ethnology, art history, and museology. Roman Yatsiv for the first time comprehensively covered her associative public-cultural and educational activities. He presented Savyna Sydorovych, first of all, as an active participant in the national liberation movement, who, together with her associates, defended Ukrainian identity in its various manifestations.
