HARVEST IN THE VILLAGE OF SELYSKA IN THE LVIV REGION

Abstract. The article continues the author’s cycle of folklore and ethnographic publications concerning the rituals of one Ukrainian village — Selysko from Lviv region, now Pustomyty district. The topic is relevant, as it is an integral part of research into the folk culture of Ukrainians and has not yet been the subject of detailed scientific consideration in the proposed comprehensive coverage.
Chronological boundaries of the study — the beginning of the 20th century.
The subject of the study — the harvest in the village of Selysko, filled with haystacks and grain harvest. For the first time, a version of the harvest celebration scenario is published, found in the manuscript «Smoloskyp» of the Zolochiv district of Lviv region for 1938, according to which the same action could have taken place in the village of Selysko. A parallel is drawn between the harvest traditions both in the Lviv region (the village of Selysko), and in the Zvenyhorod region (based on materials by A. Krymsky), and in the Slobozhan region. In the conclusions, the author claims that the harvest traditions recorded in the surveyed village are typical for all of Ukraine.
The research methodology is based on the application of the principles of scientific objectivity and structuraltypological analysis of folklore and ethnographic artifacts; in the process of studies and scientific qualification of the materials involved, methods of field ethnographic research were used. A number of the considered examples are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
