Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of historical layers and the methodological and technological features of the conservation of the wall paintings of the Annunciation (Congregational) Church of the KyivMohyla Academy. The aim of the research is to reconstruct the stages of the formation of the church interior in the 18th—19th centuries, to clarify the nature of later renovations and losses of the 20th century, and to analyze the principles and practices of restoration carried out in 1993—2003. The research methods include historical and arthistorical analysis, the study of archival sources and diary accounts, examination of design and restoration documentation, onsite surveys, as well as stratigraphic and technicaltechnological investigations of the paintings. A comprehensive approach was applied, combining the attribution of subjects, stratigraphic analysis of layers, and assessment of the monument’s state of preservation. The resultsof the study made it possible to trace the evolution of the painting from the baroque decoration of the 18th century. to numerous redraws of the 19th century, related to the change in coloristics and execution technique. A complex of materials of the Scientific Research Project and Production Small Enterprise for the Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments and Works of Art «OBERIG» was discovered and put into scientific circulation. Preventive and invasive conservation measures were analyzed: stabilization of the temperature and humidity regime, strengthening of the plaster, removal of late records and fixation of the paint layer.

Conclusions. The restoration interventions ensured the preservation of the authentic Baroque painting with its characteristic warm ochre palette and clarified the chronology of the interior’s formation. The church has been identified as a promising объект for further comprehensive arthistorical and technicaltechnological research.
