Abstract. Myroslav Radysh is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, a contemporary Kosiv artist — a master of artistic woodware famous for innovative approaches in Hutsul carving. He is an experienced tutor, a teacher trainer, the head of the department of artistic wood of Kosiv College of Applied and Decorative Art of Lviv National Academy of Arts.

Myroslav Radysh was born on 5 May, 1962 in the town of Kosiv. He studied at the department of artistic wood at Kosiv College of folk crafts named after V. Kasiian (1977—1981), graduated from Vasyl Stefanyk State Pedagogical Institute (1984—1989) in Ivano-Frankivsk, the department of art and graphics.

Myroslav Radysh is the winner of the regional Yurii Shkribliak Prize (1999). In 2008 Myroslav Radysh was awarded with Kateryna Bilokur Prize for his prominent works of traditional folk art.

He is a participant of numerous competitions, festivals and master classes in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and Germany. The creative works were shown at the artistic exhibitions in Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Sniatyn, Yaremche.

His solo exhibitions took place at Pysanka (Easter egg) Museum in Kolomyia (2008), the hall of regional organization of the NUA (National Union of Artists of Ukraine) (2012), Kosiv Institute of Applied and Decorative Art of Lviv National Academy of Arts (2016), Kosiv Museum of Folk Art and Life of Hutsulshchyna (2017), the National Museum of Hutsulshchyna and Pokuttia Folk Art named after Y. Kobrynskyi in Kolomyia (2017).

In 2017 he was a delegate at the 7th congress of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine in Kyiv, he was awarded with Tetiana Yablonska medal — a high award in the art field of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, and for his pedagogical work — with the certificate of Honour by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Myroslav Radysh belongs to the group of talented artists-masters, who make an invaluable contribution to the preservation of traditional folk art in the 21st century and popularize it far beyond the boundaries of Ukraine.

The purpose of the article is to supplement the information about the fruitful creative path of the artist, to highlight the features of the handwriting of the contemporary Kosovar artist-master Myroslav Radish, to reveal his innovative approaches in the artistic tree. The topicality of the topic is determined by the importance of presenting the variety of creative directions and innovation of Myroslav Radish in artistic wood carving, which deserves thorough study and popularization.

The methodological basis of the research is the scientific-biographical and structural-typological methods, the method of art analysis.

Wax candle as ukrainian Christmas and epiphany ritualistic text
For the first time in native ethnology the article has brought some results of special study in sign functionality of a wax candle under the context of Ukrainian Christmas and Epiphany ritualistic text (ritualism of Christmas Eve, New Year, Epiphany Eve and Feast of Epiphany). The study has stated extremely high semiotic position of a wax candle as projection of Sun, mediator between the spheres of sacral and prophane elements, symbolic analogue of human existence, apotropy, cultural symbol re-establishing borders of acculturated space.

Traditional folk clothes of velikobychkovsky hutsuly of XIX — the first half of XX century
In the study based upon numerous field materials, literature sources as well as ethnographic, historio-cultural and regional museum collections has been performed complex analysis in traditional folk clothes by Hutzul population of Velyky Bychkiv village in Transcarpathian region. Detailed descriptions of femi­nine and masculine clothing complexes of the mentioned area have been presented. In characterizing of those main attention has been paid to the detail of cut in separate components of dress; cut of feminine shirt has been added as an illustration.

Boikos’ pandemonium: categories of evil deceased
In the article have been presented some research-work on peculiarities of Boikos’ traditional demonological notions as for so-called evil deceased; on the basis of field records and ethnological literary sources quite a number of scum categories have been defined as well as essential habits, modes of behavior and functions of these personages of people’s demonology.

Maternity ritualism by volhynians in publications of the second half XIX to the early XXI cc.
In the article have been considered some basic landmarks for fixing and publication of ethnographic materials on the maternity rites of Volhynia with analytical study in ritual elements, their kinds and territories of origin. The article has also raised a problem of gaps in studies of maternity rites of Ukrainian historio-ethnographic Volhynia.
