Abstract. At the end of the 20th — early 21st centuries changes were made in the creation of artistic and archaeological expositions of capital and peripheral museums, as well as historical and cultural reserves and places of archaeological excavations according to the materials of Kyiv and the region. Previously, there were rather a simple decisions with limited use of expressive and technical means, for instance, created half a century ago the expositions of national museums: Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art; History of Ukraine; Archaeological Museum of the National Academy of Sciences, etc. In recent years, we have modern examples of the transformation of the entire museum space, which already meets the principles of integrated design. The directions of further development of museum design in the defined field are described.
