Abstract. The study of graphics of the XX—XXI centuries highlighted the problem of selectivity of elaboration of prominent representatives of the Ukrainian people by ex-libris artists. Book signs dedicated to the life and work of Vasyl Stefanyk, memorable places associated with his name are rare in their work. With some exceptions, they are not mentioned in the literature, which emphasizes the relevance of the research topic. Collecting and systematizing ex-libris dedicated to V. Stefanyk, determining their typological groups, revealing the artistic and compositional solution, and analysing the individual manner of the authors is the purpose of the publication. The solution of the outlined tasks is based on 87 works, which are exhibited at the exhibition «A set of literary, linguistic, and other works devoted to the life and work of Vasyl Stefanyk in ex-libris» in the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv. They are the object of study.

Based on the processing of ex-libris, three typological groups have been identified. The first is formed by those whose composition contains a portrait of V. Stefanyk. Most of them appeared in the 1970s and 1980s. They were made taking into account the writer’s photographs from different times and his picturesque and graphic images during his lifetime. Subsequently, the works in which the portrait resembles the writer only in general terms appeared. The second group consists of ex-libris made on the basis of the literary works of V. Stefanyk. In the past, the short story «Maple Leaves» was popular, and in 2021 such was «Stone Cross». The short stories «The Pious Woman», «News» and others were not left out of the artists’ attention. Each of them was individually rethought. Collective or generalized images, called by the emotional perception of literary artists, deserve special attention in ex-libris. The small group includes ex-libris dedicated to organizations associated with the name of V. Stefanyk: The Vasyl Stefanyk Literary Memorial Museum in Rusov, the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv, and the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. Each work impresses with its expressive composition, clear drawing, the difference of elements, which are dictated by the individual approach of the authors to the solution of the planned tasks in this or that technique.

Keywords: Vasyl Stefanyk, anniversary, exhibition, ex-libris (bookplates), typological groups, portraits, short stories, memorable places.
