GRAPHICS OF UKRAINIAN CHILDREN’S PUBLICATIONS (2000—2010) (on the material of creativity of LNAM graduates)

Abstract. The article analyzes the experience of some illustrators, graduates of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, whose creative program has developed since the beginning of the XXI century. There are common features of professional criteria of artists working on publishing projects for children: general approaches to solving the system «author — text — vision», stylistics, metaphorical and plastic imagery, interpretation of elements of ethnic tradition and modern design technologies.

The aim of the article is to analyze the conceptual approaches of a group of modern illustrators of children’s publications, which were formed in a common educational environment — in LNAM.

The rich factual material examines the multiplicity of authorial approaches to the interpretation of classical literary forms or innovations in different versions of the aesthetics of modern book graphics. Graduates of the Department of Graphic Design, as well as other departments of LNAM, cooperate with various publishers, including «Kamenyar», «Apriori», «Old Lion Publishing House», «Svichado», «Svit», implementing original formal ideas.

The relevance of the article is that for the first time the typology of the basic principles of solving spatial illustration complexes, which belong to the characteristic features of Lviv academic professional art education features of decorative interpretation of plastic form and appeal to folk tradition. In addition, examples of other ways of compositional organization of sheets with illustrations of children’s publications are considered. The most interesting representatives of such aesthetics with the so-called «associative chains» are Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv, who work in the family creative workshop «Agrafka».

The object of research is the works of graphics of children’s publications of Ukrainian publishers, which specialize, among others, in the production of books for children. The subject of the research is figurative and expressive means of illustrators of Ukrainian children’s publications of 2000—2010.

On field exploration of russian and belarusian ethnologists and etnolinguists in Ukrainian Polisia 1945—1980s
In the study based on a wide range of literary materials have been comprehensively characterised field research in Polisia of Ukraine, performed by Russian and Belarusian ethnologists during 1945—1980s as well as Moscow ethnolinguists and other researchers from ethnologic centres of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in the course of realization of Ethnolinguistic Atlas of Polisia program. Boikos’ pandemonium: categories of evil deceased
In the article have been presented some research-work on peculiarities of Boikos’ traditional demonological notions as for so-called evil deceased; on the basis of field records and ethnological literary sources quite a number of scum categories have been defined as well as essential habits, modes of behavior and functions of these personages of people’s demonology.

Daily bread baking of ukrainians in the south-western ethnographical region at the late XIX to early XXI cc.
The paper has dealt with analytic study in prescriptions, signs, customs, methods, ways of selection, procurement and some peculiarities in usage of subsidiary means — water, firewood and leaves in bread baking. The final aim of the mentioned actions had been (and still is) selection of the means and ingredients fit, by their characteristics, for the backing of bread. The paper has demonstrated dependence of bread backing subsi­diary means criteria from the folk nutritional standards and world outlook stereotypes as well as from regional social and economic, natural and geographical factors and peculiarities of material culture.

On bessarabian and moldavian ukrainians in the studies of historical ethnography
The article has thrown some light upon a sum of scientific findings got during XIX to XXI cc. in historio-ethnographic studies of Bessarabia and Moldavian Ukrainians. In the pre­sent paper has been given author’s answer to the problem of lacking progress as for the numerous themes concerning Ukrainians. State and achievements of the research-works in Ukrainians’ material and spiritual culture by the scientists of Moldavia and Ukraine through the years of independence has been exposed.
