FIREPLACES AND TILED STOVES IN THE EXHIBITION OF THE GRAND PALACE OF ZOLOCHIV CASTLE

Abstract. The purpose of the article is to investigate the history of stoves and fireplaces presented in the exposition of interiors of the historicism period of the Grand Palace of Zolochiv Castle, to determine the artistic and stylistic features of their decor and the significance of the reconstructed tiled stoves of the 19th — early 20th centuries and fireplaces in recreating the historical authenticity of the interiors.

The object of the study is the products of artistic and industrial ceramics of the late 19th — early 20th centuries: tiles and tiled stoves, fireplaces of the Grand Palace of Zolochiv Castle, and the subject is the artistic and stylistic features of the decor of stoves and fireplace decorations presented in the exposition of the historicism period.

The novelty of the study is that for the first time, a comprehensive analysis of the artistic and stylistic features of stove tiles and fireplace decoration is being conducted, and the history of manufacturing and original placement of stoves and fireplaces presented in the Great Palace of Zolochiv Castle, in particular in the exposition of the historicism period, is being investigated.

Research methodology: the method of historical description was applied, the comparative method was used with stoves of similar artistic and stylistic execution, and data were systematized. This makes it possible to shed light on the origin of the tiled stoves and fireplaces of the Great Palace of Zolochiv Castle, to outline the time and place of their creation and style affiliation.

Prospects: the materials of the article will become the basis for further research into the heating system of Zolochiv Castle, and can be used in excursion work against the background of growing interest of tourists in the history and art of the region.
